WHY WE DEVELOPED BLONDE VS BRUNETTE RACING? The driving force behind BvB Racing is to bring a straightforward but super fun two player versus game for iPad. We love versus games, and decided to develop one as we didn’t find any great ones on the AppStore. We felt that the iPad, in portrait orientation, has optimal fit for head to head versus gameplay. Blonde vs Brunette was picked as the battle of all ages, the ultimate “versus setting” that would be easy to understand for all. We also liked the “state of mind” aspect of blondes and brunettes. There are “blondes” even in countries with only brunettes, such as China, at least based on our experience. For game play, we wanted to experiment with controls by doing “instantly understandable” controls for a racing game – wheels and pedals. By doing that the game would be super easy to play for people with limited gaming experience while giving gamers the challenge of learning new type of controls per racing style. As the controls will take some time to master, we added super unfair power-ups to the game so that even a novice player would have a small chance of getting the sweet taste of victory! We decided to do simple track designs but so that there is a small element of strategy and tactics with the placement of power-up spots and boost pads.
